Building up your Portfolio takes time but it’s one of the best ways to showcase your work to the outer world. Are you someone who has the capability to run but is never given a chance?. Well, in this post Let me tell you about the Importance of Having a Portfolio.
Importance of Having a Portfolio
Landing a Job might be tough for people who have started entering any industry. The thing is no one will believe you until they see your potential with the work they are expecting. Well, there comes the Importance of Having a Portfolio. Let me tell you about the Importance of Having a Portfolio, the first thing is you can practice. It’s your showcase of work so, there are no restrictions from anyone for the work you do.
Let it be any field, if you have a portfolio then you are one step ahead in achieving your dream or landing your dream job. Portfolios are also one of the best ways to practise your skills and rectify your flaws with them. Learning new things is well and good but, when we try to work practically we will be facing a lot of issues through which we will develop our skills. Those issue solving skills are called Experienced these days.
Let’s see this from a development point of view, When a developer is assigned an issue, the experience is defined by how much time and how fast he is able to rectify the issue. Each and every day when a developer solves an issue, it gives them a new experience and a new way to solve the issue. Each alteration and development he does is a portfolio for his work.
The same thing applies to a photographer or a Director. The Challenge of achieving a perfect shot that he/she has planned in their mind is one of the toughest things to do. The way they plan to achieve a shot comes from their experience with their previous project. A Director’s previous movie or a Photographer’s previous photographs becomes their portfolio for their next project. They develop themselves from the flaws that they made in their previous works.
Eventually, we all learn from trying out new things, the way we shape ourselves. Well, you may ask how this helps?. The thing here is, it’s not necessary always to work on a project or a company to learn new things. People don’t value your hard work without your final output. If you are a developer or someone from the IT side, create new applications from your point of view. This involves no money and you have a lot of free tools and other study materials available online. If You are a UI/UX designer then working with Figma/XD and having your work published on Behance and Dribble is a way better option than waiting for an opportunity to prove to others that you are a perfect designer.
This applies to almost all the fields here. Work on building your own portfolio and skills. Showcase your work and develop yourself in the first place. Your place in a company can be stolen but not your skills. Personally, I have worked on creating a lot of portfolios which Landed me a good job.
Every Field out there is not the same, But you can make it work when you try something new to showcase your work. Be it a small work or a big one don’t hesitate to do it and create your portfolio. Not everyone will give you an opportunity based on your experience, it’s about the skills and how you complete your work. Go Create!!!!
